The Fruit Jams of Our Labor

Today was a lot of hard, but deliciously fun, work!  Sheri and I went to Barb's and spent the whole day canning...after we stopped at Miller's Blueberry Farm to pick up our gallon of pre-ordered, just picked this morning blueberries.  (Don't ask why the blueberry farm website has something to do with dancing.  I have no idea.)  Barb had 25# of peaches from Lane's and 10# of citrus.

Our rinsed and waiting blueberries...

4# of citrus fruit waiting to become citrus marmalade...

We canned pint, half-pint, and 2 oz. jars.

Success!  Peach jam!

The fruit jams of our labor...blueberry jam, peach jam, peach blueberry jam, spiced peach jam, and citrus marmalade

We had some blueberries leftover so we bagged them to share.  Barb also had a ton of peaches to share.  She ran out of freezer space (she was freezing slices individually on baking sheets) so she sliced up 2 bags each for me and Sheri to take home.
My spoils...
13 half pint jars - 2 citrus marmalades, 3 peach jams, 1 spiced peach jam, 4 blueberry jams, and 3 peach blueberry jams

Not a bad haul for such a long, fun day!  Unfortunately, I think the citrus marmalade is not going to set and will remain a citrus marmalade syrup.  While this does not distress me or Sheri, it has disturbed Barb the Marmalade Queen.  I think she was going to play with pectin later on to see what can be done.

  1. Marmalade Queen is not amused that the subject did not bow to her will. I shall deal harshly with it, subjecting the offender to untold quantities of pectin. ;-) Thanks for the link to Miller's!
