2 out of 6 is not good chances...

We have suspected something was not quite right in the coop for a long time, but I think we have been in denial.  Unfortunately, a friend confirmed it a couple of weeks ago.

The Girls aren't all girls.
In fact, only 2 out of 6 are hens.

If you even suck at math, you can still figure out that we have (had) 4 roosters.  No matter how you slice it, we weren't going to get eggs from male chickens...and 4 roosters means a heck of a lot of crowing and fighting.  Time to come up with a plan.

They have to go.
Soon.

One rooster (now named Meanie) is going to live at a friend's farm on the other side of Atlanta.  And then there were 3.  We have decided to keep Bunni - now Rooster Bunni - as he is a beautiful and docile bird.  Two to go.  What to do?  CRAIGSLIST TO THE RESCUE!  I posted the remaining 2 Austrolorp roosters on craigslist - for free - and within 30 minutes received an email.  By this morning, I had 5 people wanting to take the boys.  By 1:00 this afternoon, we had gotten rid of the remaining 2 roosters.  Meanie is still here, but I hope to dump take him to his new home soon.

Meanwhile, I have been strongly encouraged to try to start a small business of knitted baby items, particularly for use in baby photography.  I have already knitted a pink headband and one striped legwarmer to match.  The mate is on the needles and should be finished by tomorrow night.  I will post pictures of the set and the baby quilt soon!
