Peaches and Pierogis - Day 1

I got a lot done tonight.  First, I canned peach preserves - all by myself.  I'm going to give some to my dad as a Father's Day/birthday gift.  He LOVES peaches and they happen to be in season - and we have an orchard 5 minutes from the house so they are local peaches in season!  Looks like all of the jars sealed properly.

Tomorrow, we are making pierogis at Sheri's house.  Pierogis are, from what I understand, the Polish equivalent to the Italian ravioli and they can be sweet or savory.  I am making both types.  I had some left over peaches after I canned the preserves so I strained them and then added some mashed up raspberries.  Now I am cooking ground venison, onion, and garlic with dried sage.  Tomorrow I will mix it with finely chopped Granny Smith apples.  The final filling will be ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, and a pinch of nutmeg.  YUMMY!  I'll post pictures soon!
